Out here alone
In my mind in my zone
Observing every line
That unwinds from behind
A static wall of buzzing thoughts
Making noise and twisting knots
As I try to pull the drapes
And identify a shape.
Send me a signal fire
To show me back to shore
Send me a signal fire
One light I'm sailing toward
So bright I can't ignore
So strong it heats my core
Send me a signal fire
To show me back to shore
Out here to try
What I need to feel alive.
I'll quiet all the fuzz
And isolate myself because
When too much light enters my eye
It's too bright and makes me blind
All the goodness starts to dry
Furthermore when I ask why.
Taking a plunge
To unfold and expunge
Subtracting one by one
Until I'm not feeling spun.
'Cause if it's not adding up
Strip away and deconstruct
'Till I'm left with just the core
And I'll turn it to a forge.
Send me a signal fire
Send me a signal fire
To show me back to shore
Send me a signal fire
One light I'm sailing toward
So bright I can't ignore
So strong it heats my core
Send me a signal fire
To show me back to shore
The Oh Hellos have come to hold a very special place in my heart, not just in this album, but in others as well. Hello My Old Heart was one of the first songs I ever heard by them, and it's been a treasured journey listening to them ever since. ladyoforion

probably the most haunting gizzard song, next to work this time and lonely steel sheet flyer. something I always can appreciate is how gizzard can juggle with deeper and more dark lyrics with more nonsensical and fun lyrics like on rattlesnake, mycelium, and vegimite and then pull both off so well. what an amazing band Tal
